The show will be broadcasted live by Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel starting at 8 p.m. EST both nights.

'The dogs found at this opposition are examples of the work of responsible breeders - those who dedicate their lives not only to the game, but to creating the most perfect examples of their breed,' said Ron Menaker, display chairman and AKC Chairman of-the Board. 'Watching or attending the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship is a perfect way for any dog lover to learn more about purebred dogs and watch the human-canine connection in action.'

The Tampa Convention Center and St. Pete Times Forum will house three title activities during the weekend: the AKC/Eukanuba Nationwide Championship; the AKC National Behavior Invitational and the AKC National Speed Championship;. The activities have now been named the 'Canine Olympics.'

Very nearly 2,500 dogs competed last year, including 108 rivals from foreign registries representing 1-6 countries.

Speed events allow dogs to show their flexibility and athleticism by racing against the clock and beating a course of different limitations. Speed may be the AKC's fastest-growing canine sport.
